The World Poker Tour (WPT) has affirmed a gathering at casino complex NagaWorld in Cambodia, and confirmed another at Crown Poker Club in Hanoi, Vietnam, as elements in its first-half 2024 roster.
The NagaWorld staging of the Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup is a first in Southeast Asia as part of WPT Cambodia, which is to run from January 17 to 30, said the brand.
The WPT Cambodia gathering will be anchored by the US$3,500 Cambodia Championship Event from January 25 to 29, and which will have a US$1-million guaranteed prize pool.
“NagaWorld has been an excellent partner for us in recent years, hosting record-breaking WPT Prime events in each of the last two seasons,” said WPT president and chief executive Adam Pliska, as cited in a recent press release.
“It is a venue well fit for our first-ever Main Tour festival in Southeast Asia and prepared to expand the legacy of the Mike Sexton WPT Champions Cup,” the CEO added.
The WPT made its debut at NagaWorld in 2019, according to the poker brand.
NagaWorld, a monopoly casino venue in Phnom Penh, the Cambodian capital, is operated by Hong Kong-listed NagaCorp Ltd.
WPT Prime Vietnam – the third such event in that country – returns to the Crown Poker Club in Hanoi, for a VND25.0 million (US$1,015) championship scheduled for May 23.
The WPT brand affirmed that its 2024 tour calendar will include use of a Virgin Voyages cruise ship in the Caribbean for WPT Voyage and WPT Voyage Prime events.
