Travellers to Cambodia will from Monday (November 15) be exempted from quarantine, provided they have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and have had a ‘negative’ test result for the disease within 72 hours of their inbound journey.
However, test samples will be taken from all inbound passengers on arrival to the kingdom, and they will need to stay at their accommodation pending the result of that test, reported Chinese news agency Xinhua.
The information on conditional exemption from quarantine was given by the country’s prime minister, Hun Sen, on Sunday, according to multiple media reports.
He added that vaccinated foreigners and Cambodians who had been in quarantine currently within Cambodia’s borders, would be allowed to exit from it on Monday.
The nation had from October 18, already relaxed somewhat its 14-day quarantine rule, permitting some business travellers and certain professional experts to complete only a three-day quarantine on arrival, provided they were fully-vaccinated against Covid-19.
According to Xinhua, citing Cambodia’s Ministry of Health, 82.5 percent of the kingdom’s population have been fully vaccinated – via two doses – against Covid-19.
Hong Kong-listed NagaCorp Ltd, operator of Phnom Penh’s monopoly casino complex NagaWorld, said in a business update in October that a lack of “movement of referral business from overseas” had contributed during the first nine months of the year to a steep year-on-year decline in its “referral VIP” play.
Casino operations at NagaWorld restarted on September 15, after the property having been closed since the beginning of March. The reopening included a string of new Covid-19 countermeasures at the complex.
