Macau graft buster probe not to delay Wynn Palace: Wynn

Macau casino operator Wynn Macau Ltd does not anticipate any delay in the construction of its Cotai project even as the city’s corruption watchdog gathers information about a deal connected to the land granting process.

Vasco Fong Man Chong, head of Macau’s Commission Against Corruption, confirmed that the commission is gathering information about a deal surrounding the Cotai land granted to Wynn Macau, prior to the official concession of the plot to the gaming operator.

On Thursday, Mr Fong said the graft buster has started “analysing some details” about that deal, adding that he could not disclose more information because an official investigation may still be launched.

“We have not been contacted by any authorities, but if we were we would fully cooperate,” Wynn Resorts Ltd, the parent company of Wynn Macau, told GGRAsia in a written reply on Friday.

“We do not anticipate any delay in our construction or project schedule,” the company added.

The US$4-billion Wynn Palace project is scheduled to open in the first half of 2016.
