Macau gambling junket investor Tak Chun Group is to launch what it says is a “brand new” VIP gaming club at MGM Macau on Monday, with a facility that will be branded with the group’s name, a Tak Chun representative confirmed to GGRAsia on Thursday.
The new high-roller facility at MGM Macau, a downtown casino resort (pictured) operated by MGM China Holdings Ltd, will feature 12 gaming tables in six rooms, and marks an expansion of Tak Chun’s VIP gaming business in the city, the person – who asked not to be identified – told us.
“We will continue to take a cautious approach regarding possible new gaming facility openings – should an opportune moment arise – both on Macau peninsula and in Cotai,” the representative said.
MGM China is due to open its new HKD27-billion (US$3.46-billion) MGM Cotai on January 29, but the management has been on record as saying that – initially at least – it might not have any VIP gaming.
Tak Chun’s representative declined to say how many VIP rooms and VIP gambling tables the brand currently has in the Macau market as a whole.
Last year the group launched several VIP gaming facilities at new casino resorts in Cotai, including one at Studio City, a property majority-owned by Melco Resorts and Entertainment Ltd.
Tak Chun had a VIP operation at MGM Macau previously, but last year “suspended” it and launched a new VIP area at the Parisian Macao, a Cotai casino resort operated by MGM China’s market rival Sands China Ltd. The Parisian Macao first opened in September 2016.
