The Asian-themed Lucky Dragon Hotel and Casino, on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada, United States, announced on Thursday it was “temporarily” closing all gaming operations for six months.
The property (pictured), opened in November 2016, aiming to cater in particular for Asian gamblers.
“Effective immediately Lucky Dragon Hotel and Casino is beginning the process of repositioning and, in doing so, will have a reduction in staff while it temporarily closes all gaming and restaurant operations,” the promoter of the property, Lucky Dragon Hotel and Casino LLC, said in a statement made available via social media network Twitter. It did not mention a reason for the decision to “reposition” the property.
The note added: “While this is a difficult decision, this repositioning paves the way for Lucky Dragon to establish new partnerships that will enhance the property’s long-term positioning and provide a better guest experience… All staff laid off will have the opportunity to rejoin the Lucky Dragon team when gaming and additional restaurant operations resume within six months.”
At the time of launch, Lucky Dragon was said by its promoters to be Las Vegas’ “first resort delivering an authentic Asian cultural and gaming experience”. Its 27,500 square feet (2,555 sq metres) casino featured 30 gaming tables and 300 slots, focusing on games popular in Asia, including baccarat and pai gow.
Lucky Dragon’s website says the property offers 204 hotel rooms and suites. The property’s hotel will remain “fully operational,” according to the firm’s statement.
