NUSTAR Resort & Casino (pictured), on the holiday island of Cebu in the Philippines, says it is marking its third anniversary with the opening of a luxury hotel that bears the property’s name.

“The highlight of the anniversary celebration is the much-anticipated opening of NUSTAR Hotel – the first ultra-luxury hotel in Cebu,” said a press release issued on behalf of the complex.

NUSTAR Resort & Casino launched in May 2022.

“As we mark NUSTAR Resort Cebu’s third anniversary, we proudly uphold our status as the first and only premier integrated resort in the Visayas and Mindanao, setting the gold standard for luxury and innovation,” Sean Knights, described as new chief operating officer at the complex, was cited as saying in the press release.

The advent of the NUSTAR Hotel Cebu had been mentioned in an October announcement by the resort’s ultimate parent firm, Philippine conglomerate Robinsons Land Corp.

The new hotel was previously described as part of plans by Robinsons Hotels and Resorts – a unit of Robinsons Land – plans to invest more than PHP10 billion (US$176.9 million currently) “over the next few years” in efforts at “transforming the hospitality landscape in the Philippines”.

In the earlier annoucnement it was said the NUSTAR Hotel Cebu was to offer 223 rooms, adding to the 379 rooms already on the complex’s site under the “Fili” hotel brand.

By early 2027, a third hotel, via the Robinsons hotel brand “Grand Summit”, is due to bring the whole site’s room capacity to 985.
